Impossible Weekend

If we are honest, most of our relationships have suffered in the last year.

Lockdowns, political factions, and reaching seventeen-too-many times for the just-in-case-it-is-the-end-of-the-world snacks didn’t help us to cultivate healthy relationships.

Whoops.

But now that the dust is starting to settle (please, Jesus!), let’s dig through the potato chip bags and Netflix binges to cultivate the unity Jesus prayed over his disciples in John 17:

I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one – as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me (v. 20-21).

Truly? Oneness with the family of God and oneness with our spouse (if we are called to marriage) can feel impossible – especially now.

But impossibilities are Jesus’ specialty (Matthew 19:26)

Married people? Single people? Now is the time to get big-picture, gospel-grounded, and practical.

Now is the time to be one: one with God, one with our spouses, one with the Church, and then to invite others into this oneness.
